About Us
JanusIRC, formerly known as Something1337, renamed in order to encourage usage and development of the "Janus Inter-Network Channel Linker". The project has since been discontinued and the network is in the process of renaming for a third time. Something1337 originally started as a network to provide a drama-free environment, No-Bullshit policy for friends - a phenomena found in extremely decentralised networks at the time. The idea did not flourish for as long as hoped for, and the network entered a period of decline until Janus become the central focus.
Currently, JanusIRC is looking to merge with other trusted networks. Janus has become less used due to lack of a development team. Instead, Janus is now simply being used as an introducer for networks possibly seeking to absorb into one. JanusIRC's most notable factor in IRC technology is the integration of services into web software; an entire Single Sign-On Environment for registered users through Atheme. JanusIRC has a well maintained Wiki, Message Board, and Portal under the top-level JANUSIRC.COM domain name.
