ZTecNet is not like any other IRC network or online community. It's a family. The network is composed of a bunch of tech-savvy beings that met each other years ago and treat each other like family. Most people on the network have known each other on a very personal level for years. We're always welcoming new members to become a part of the ZTecNet community.

ZTecNet was founded on May 7, 2006 and has been holding up strong since. We strive to be a network where people can get along with a minimal set of rules. We believe that rules are important, but stressing them, having too many rules, or making such rules too strict only make a less fun environment.
I'm sure you want to know what ZTecNet's all about.. right? Well.. too bad. I'm going to tell you anyways. k.


In June of 2010, ZTecNet switched to InspIRCd and Atheme services from Unreal3.2 and Anope to revive the network, and make it more modern.
Welcome to ZTecNet IRC! A network unlike all others. We like to call it more of a family or community, not so much an IRC network. Reason being, all the members of our community know each other on a personal level and have hung out online for years on ZTecNet. ZTecNet is for the most part a single channel network. We all like to hang out in one place pretty much. We do welcome people to bring their own IRC channels to ZTecNet or to create their own on the network.


On September 22, 2011, ZTecNet then switched from InspIRCd to ShadowIRCd in hopes of making the network more stable and less buggy. We were experiencing desync issues with InspIRCd and decided to make the switch. We then decided to change the network BACK to InspIRCd (lol) a few days later.
ZTecNet's been up and running since May 7th, 2006 and has gone through hell and back. Since it's more of a family than a rule-strict IRC network, we don't have many rules or put restrictions on anybody that joins. We all flood a bit and talk pure crap half the time. We believe that's what "fun" on IRC is defined as. We've seen some other communities and IRC networks out there that will punish/yell at you for using caps or cursing... wtf?? We're not like that. We actually like when people stay on the network, so we don't do that.


ZTecNet is and has always been for the most part, a single-channel network, with clients that can create their own personal channels on the side.
Anyways, here's a small timeline of major events on ZTecNet:
05/07/06: ZTecNet launched running Unreal3.2 and Anope! (well.. we think. It's the earliest logs we could find)
06/2010: ZTecNet switched to InspIRCd and Atheme due to popular request.
09/22/11: Switched to ShadowIRCd, still running Atheme.
09/25/11: Switched back to InspIRCd. The ShadowIRCd switch was a massive fail xD


Our main channel, #ZTecNet, is the place to be for general conversation, technology chat, and more.
