Content Blocked by SOPA/PIPA

Not really, but if SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) passes in the US this maybe become a reality. Neither does what their names claims and you could still access sites like PirateBay by using their IP addresses.

What they will do is give a select few in the US the power to shutting down and blocking sites for ANY copyright or intellectual property violations (supposed or otherwise) done directly by the site or any of it's users. Yep, that means a site like the IRC Wiki can be blocked because of some idiot spammer that wrote the wrong thing on a page nobody will ever see.

So please help stop this stupidity. If you're in the US contact your electoral representative and complain about it. They care about being re-elected, so they will listen if enough people complain about it. If you're not from the US, then please spread the word. Support Wikipedia and other sites that are trying to fight this idiotic attempt by the US government to take over the Internet. We here at the IRC Wiki do.
