'''Note:''' To the naysayers and the slow people in the back. What SOPA or PIPA means to you is that sites you use regularly like Wikipedia, IRC Wiki, Google, Youtube, Facebook and Netflix will be shut down forever. You think 24 hours without Wikipedia is bad? Wait until you can never access it again. Further more it takes away your Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression on the Internet. All this and it won't even stop Piracy in the least... Is losing all that for something that won't work really worth it? Think again.

'''To the individual that keeps connecting about protecting creative rights:''' SOPA and PIPA won't protect it, but will in fact destroy it. For some reason very reasonable individuals like yourself seem to stop thinking/listening the moment you hear the word 'piracy' or 'intellectual property'. Don't be fooled, SOPA and PIPA won't live up to their names and the only people that will suffer (and then only complain about it) will be individuals like yourself.

Content Blocked by SOPA/PIPA

Not really, but if SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) passes in the US this may become a reality. Neither does what their names claims and you would still be able to access sites like PirateBay by using their IP addresses.

What they will do is give a select few in the US the power to shut down and block sites for ANY copyright or intellectual property violations (supposed or otherwise) done directly by the site or any of it's users. Yep, that means a site like the IRC Wiki can be blocked because of some idiot spammer wrote the wrong thing on a page nobody will ever see.

So please help stop this stupidity. If you're in the US contact your electoral representative and complain about it. They care about being re-elected, so they will listen if enough people complain about it. If you're not from the US, then please spread the word. Support Wikipedia and other sites that are trying to fight this idiotic attempt by the US government to take over the Internet. We here at the IRC Wiki do.

Note: To the naysayers and the slow people in the back.

To the individual worried about protecting creative rights: SOPA and PIPA won't protect it, but will, in fact, destroy it.
