Anope's defcon system can be used to implement a pre-defined set of restrictions to services useful during an attempted attack on the network.
The defcon system can be used to implement a pre-defined set of restrictions to services useful during an attempted attack on the network. A level of danger may be set which goes from 5, lowest danger, to 1, highest danger using an operserv command:
- /msg OperServ defcon number
The 5 settings in detail:
- 1 - The highest defcon setting which helps avert any potential damage from malicious users, it prevents connections, prevents any user of services commands to avoid database floods, and enforces channel modes which will prevent in channel flooding and join floods. This setting should only be used in severe attacks.
- 2/3/4 - The three modes in between that depending on the severity on the attack can be used.
- 5 - Normal everyday setting, this is the setting the deactivates defcon defenses
